Other Ships Named North Carolina BB-55 was not the only ship in the United States named NORTH CAROLINA. The heritage started in 1818 with the "Line-of-Battle" ship, continued to the Confederate "Ironclad", followed by the early 20th century ship and finally BB-52. Then finally BB-55.
