CommentsJust discovered your new BB55 web site. I am the son of a USS Washington BB56 shipmate and the President of the BB56 Associate Unit. I have visited your fine ship on many occasions and attended the last reunion we had together in 1996. I am impressed at the content and design of your new site. I have visited BB55 on various occasions. I have to admit that I get chills every time I step onboard. I consider my visit to BB55 as being the same as visiting the Washington. They were identical ship with a few very minor changes here and there. This is the closest any USS Washington BB56 sailor or descendant will ever come to being on the actual ship. It is ashamed that the state of Washington could not do as North Carolina has done in preserving a great part of history. It was the "North Carolina Class" that fought and won all the Battles in World War Two. The history of these ships need to be preserved for all of today's school children. We need to stick together and tell the stories of these great ships and the men who fought so bravely on them. I thank all our Fathers for fighting for our freedom. I also ask that all the men who sailed these great ships to pass on to their sons and daughters, all the stories and events from your time onboard. For these stories are our fuel for "Keeping the Memories Alive" well into the next Millennium. Smooth Sailing, Howard Wright USSWash@flash.net
CommentsMy husbands Uncle, Dick Thorner served on the North Carolina and sent me the link to look. It is a great site. Keep up the great work. I will look forward to seeing the new link soon.

CommentsLooks great! I'm sure the crew member's roster will continue till complete. V-J Day celebration was not "last year". The colors are fantastic..I'm pleased to send the info on to friends. It is difficult not to think of her as "mine", but she did care for me for almost four years...a grand lady indeed. You all do her justice. Thanks.

CommentsNice site. My father was Edward H. Russell and he was a crew member of the Showboat, 1941-1945. He would have loved your site. He died in July, 1983 and i know a part of his spirit is aboard her. May the winds be at your back and your waters be smooth. Thanks.
CommentsI have been searching the site for an e-mail address for the ship's store, but this is the only one I find. I am wondering if the store has available license plate holders. I have seen them and would really like to get a pair if they are available. Please e-mail back information on availability, price, shipping and handling weight as I need to order through the mail. Thank you. Love the site.

CommentsI was in Wilminton the day the moored the NC on the south side of the river. They had a dificult time turning her around. A Lovely ship. Thank you.
CommentsThis is a great web site. I have followed the North Carolina's web sites for many years. I have visited BB5 twice and plan another trip this fall. I did not serve on the North Carolina, I did serve in the Navy during WWII. My real interest in the North Carolina is because my uncle Thomas W. Dillingham, CBM served on board from the day she was commissioned until he was injured near the end of WWI. He passed away many years ago. However I do have some of his personal items he brought home from the North Carolina.
