 Charlie's Be A Sailor Party

Saturday, 16 October 1999

10:00AM - 2:00PM

Imagine if you could be a sailor on board the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA! Well, don't just imagine it, live it! If you are 6-12 years old, you can become a battleship sailor for a day and learn what life aboard a battleship was really like. Here's how it works... Teams of 4 will gain insight into the daily life of a sailor by accomplishing a series of challenges and will receive a certificate of completion. All you have to do is call JILL CARUTHERS or KIM SINCOX at the Battleship to reserve your place on a team, or grab three of your friends to make your own team. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. ADULT MUST ACCOMPANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP.

 

AS A SAILOR YOU WILL LEARN

  1. Be granted permission to come aboard
  2. Learn to tie a square knot in your own neckerchief
  3. Learn the proper way to wear a sailor hat
  4. Do a 20mm gun drill with your team
  5. Holystone the deck to make it shine
  6. Participate in a General Quarters Drill
  7. Get a snack in the Mess Decks
  8. Earn a certificate of Achievement

 

ENJOY ACTIVITIES ON THE GROUND

  2. United States Coast Guard
  3. United States Marines
  4. Wilmington Children's Museum
  5. Have your photo taken with Charlie
